The former independant town Gladbeck became a member of the rural - district Recklinghausen in the 1970s. The at first planned unification with Bottrop and Kirchhellen failed and so the world has neglect the beautiful town "Glabotki" today...
Gladbeck with its 82.000 inhabitants is looking upon a well mastered economical reconstruction. Coal mining is history in Gladbeck today too.
