The town of Wattenscheid counts about 100.000 inhabitants and is being situated between Essen, Gelsenkirchen and Bochum. The town couldn´t still stand its annexion to Bochum in 1975.
But there was nearly so much resticance against the coumal reform than in Wattenscheid.

The old city hall of Wattenscheid is to be seen in the mirror of a modern facade.

The coal mine Holland which has been closed in the mean time was founded with dutch money.

Today we can find here a modern business park.
